Does this Fruity Crispy Rice Treats recipe seem a bit familiar to you? It should because it is an adaptation from the original Rice Krispie Treats recipe you grew up with and that you have probably made for your kids or friends for years–decades even.
The first time I made these was for a small fundraiser for my daughters’ Odyssey of the Mind teams to help them raise money to go to the West Texas Regional competition. I had already made this same recipe with chocolate crispy rice cereal–yes, you won’t believe how good that is and you can form it into a bigger than normal Hershey’s Kiss by using a funnel. As I was standing in the cereal aisle at Furr’s, it occurred to me that the kids would love the fruity option.
Well, that is what I did and the rest is history, which repeats itself. Both of those same daughters have grown up and love making these for their kiddos. The oldest just made some yesterday as an “encouragement” for her boys to help clean up the mudroom before their dad got home from a short business trip. Pretty sure it was mostly Mom who wanted these for herself, but she was willing to share. I snagged one myself since I was there helping out.
These will be great after school treats, and if you want to stay with a marshmallow theme, serve some of these, too.
