Bea’s Apple Cobbler could also be a crisp, or a betty, or an Apple Brown Betty. Confusing, right? Today is National Apple Betty Day, and since this “cobbler” looks like a Betty, I’m going to post it. Okay, don’t judge me, Apple Betty peeps. I know this does not contain oats. It just gives the illusion of oats. Maybe I will try adding them next time.
Years ago, when my kiddos were barely getting into preschool days, we had a wonderful, thoughtful real estate agent who helped us with one of our moves. She was so attentive and helped us find just the right home–in her neighborhood, actually. We could have walked to her house.
Such a cute little ball of fire. I wonder what she is doing now–pretty sure she is retired but probably still trying to do service missions for her church.
Speaking of service, her “service after the sale” was awesome. Have you ever had a realtor drop off 3 or 4 chrysanthemum plants in beautiful fall colors, and set them on your front steps? Or how about baking an extra apple cobbler and bringing it by just because she was taking a meal to someone and thought she would just bake an extra cobbler for you? That’s how I got this recipe and I have been making it for years. The family loves it. It is incredibly easy to throw together and a perfect way to use up those apples on your counter that no one is eating for some reason. Have you ever subscribed to “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” school of thought? Maybe we should try that. Does it count if it’s baked into a cobbler?
Anyway, I can guarantee that you will not have leftovers when you make this. You will be lucky if it even makes it to the next day.
You should have some for dessert when you make this delicious casserole.
You’re welcome.
