Happy Independence Day. God Bless AMERICA!!

Coke Zero

Are most of us trying to cut carbs for one reason or another? My biggest issue is soft drinks and straight up, fully-leaded Coca Cola is my go to soda.  But when I am trying to do better, at least as far as sugar, Coke Zero is the best replacement I have found.  This is the only soda that I will buy a fridge pack of and keep in my spare refrigerator in the garage.  Well, sometimes Cherry Coke Zero if I just want a little something extra. Otherwise, I don’t keep any others in there, unless I get a special request which is usually not one that I would choose anyway.

BIC Velocity Mechanical Pencils

When I go to Wal-Mart I like to browse through the school supplies–especially during the back-to-school launch. I kind of miss having to buy school stuff because my girls are grown with kids of their own. But I don’t miss the crowds, just to be clear.  Anyway, this is the best time to find special packs of things and that’s how I found this awesome pencil.  It’s oversized and just the right fit for my hand–and so comfortable.  The pack had two regulars and a large, so I bought a couple of packs!  Y’all, I must have just really been missing using pencil.  The colors are great, too.  My favorites are blue and orange.  Sorry–couldn’t find the orange one.  It has gone missing from my desk.  Three guesses who has it…

Local Honey

We have a friend who is a beekeeper and he shares his delicious honey with us whenever he gets a good batch ready.  The last couple of years he has even placed hives at the back of our property.  It’s been fun to drive up there on our UTV and check out how busy those bees are making this healthy, tasty liquid gold.  We actually got to strain a couple of racks of honeycomb over the last couple of months.  One of them wasn’t really to our liking, so it’s a good thing we only got a pint out of it.  But the one we strained over the last week was absolutely delicious and we got almost a quart.  That’s the one in the image.  And how do you like that little honey dispenser in the background?  So cool. I use our local honey in this Double Chocolate Zucchini Bread

Tickler File

How many different organizing tips have you tried to get paper under control at your house? I’m talking bills to pay, invitations to birthdays, Graduation/Wedding announcements, monthly statements, etc.  I learned some great techniques and systems from the Mind Organization for Moms program from Power Of Moms–now managed by my friend April Perry, and her husband Eric, at Learn Do Become. I have tweaked them over the years and one of my tweaks is my Tickler Binder–and it’s only a about a 1.5 inch size.  Stay tuned for a tutorial on how I set it up and how my processing goes.
