M&M Oreo Bars are an easy quick bake to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Oreos. Classic. M&M’s. Classic. I probably already have your attention, right? Well another bonus for this recipe is that it’s really pretty easy, as baking goes. It comes together quickly, doesn’t dirty up a ton of dishes, and the hardest part of the process is waiting for the bars to cool!
Probably my favorite thing about this bar is the texture. You’ve got the crunchy shell of the M&M’s combined with that soft cruch (is that a thing? I say it is) of the Oreos. It’s just a nice combination for a cookie bar.
I will say that the original instructions recommended a cooking time that I found to be too short. In my somewhat slow oven, I had to increase the suggested time from 20-22 minutes to 27 minutes. And when I make these again, I will likely increase that by 3-4 minutes as the interior bars were a bit gooier than I would personally like.

Definitely one thing you want to make sure NOT to do is over chop the Oreos. This isn’t Cookies & Cream, where the Oreos dissipate into the batter all speckly. No, you want pretty big chunks. I’d say no more than 6 chunks out of one Oreo–that’s as small as I would go. And speaking of Oreos, I thought about trying a different flavor of Oreos (have you seen all the Oreo flavors lately??). But my tendency is to try out a recipe first with the basics, and then have fun experimenting on subsequent tries. Because of the nature of this batter, you could actually play around quite a bit with some funky flavors of both the Oreos and the M&Ms. I’m thinking peanut butter M&M’s and chocolate creme Oreos maybe……
What would you choose for your flavor combo?
M&M Oreo Bars would be a fun family night treat or the sweet finale to a yummy meal (like maybe this dish?). Whenever and wherever you serve them, they’ll be a hit. They’re just fun. And yummy!

M&M Oreo Bars
Description
Quick and easy baked cookie bar using Oreos and M&Ms
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 18 Oreo cookies, chopped coarse
- 1/2 –3/4 cup M&M’s
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Line an 8″x8″ baking pan with aluminum foil, leaving enough extra to use as handles to remove bars from pan after they cool. Spray with non-stick cooking spray.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla. Whisk together until smooth.
- Add the flour and stir just until combined.
- Stir in the coarsely chopped Oreos.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and carefully spread it out evenly. Sprinkle evenly with M&M’s.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes OR until the edges are firm and the middle is set. A toothpick inserted near the center (in a batter only spot) should come out with no wet batter on it.
- Cool in pan for 30 minutes. Then lift the bars out using the foil liner for handles and cut into bars.
